A manager swap for Enfield

By Ian Townsend

Cureton departs, Salmon takes over

It's been a difficult period for Enfield. The tragic death of Director Simon Needham has been followed by a number of player departures, and yesterday the club confirmed the departure of manager Jamie Cureton and his backroom team. Jamie, who Isthmian watchers will remember from his time in charge at Bishop's Stortford- and for his goals not only with the Blues but across many years at a higher level- had been in charge for three years and led his team to promotion to our ranks at the end of last season.

It isn't all doom and gloom, however. Following an announcement about sundry departures, the club confirmed that a new manager had been appointed, former player- and captain- Alex Salmon returning to the E's to steer them through this difficult period. You might recall that Alex was once- briefly, as his spell was interrupted by the pandemic- in charge at Basildon United, and also played for the Bees as well as for Southend Manor.

Prior to his spell in charge at Basildon he was manager of Burnham Ramblers.
