A new Man(ning) for Grays

By Ian Townsend

Darren Manning is the new boss at Grays Athletic

It seems rather like we've been let in on a secret that was never a secret, but following his announced departure from Basildon United yesterday, Grays Athletic have this morning confirmed that Darren Manning is their new boss.

Darren replaces Mark Stimson, who departed the role earlier this week.

Athletic's statement explained:

'The Board of Directors felt it necessary to act quickly after parting company with Mark Stimson as manager on Monday and appoint a manager capable of turning around the disappointing run of results and performances to push us up the league table.

Darren has showcased his managerial qualities most recently with Basildon United where they currently sit third in the Isthmian League North Division with an attacking brand of football played with flair and freedom.

Darren will be present at our Essex Senior Cup game this evening away to Athletic Newham and will be bringing his own coaching team with him.'

Darren, as stated above, leaves the Bees in third place in the Pitching In Isthmian North table, and has had his side playing some fine football. He became Bees boss in October last year, as was previously very successful in charge of Hullbridge Sports.
