A Premier Tuesday!

By Ian Townsend

Billericay and Chatham meet, the Blues looking to replace their visitors in second place, whilst Margate welcome Haringey Borough. In the Velocity Cup, Kingstonian welcome Dulwich Hamlet. Here’s our preview.

With an eleven point gap between leaders Hornchurch and the chasing pack, both Chatham Town and Billericay Town will be desperate for three points to eat into that lead- but unfortunately only one of the two can manage that, as they are playing each other at New Lodge.

The hosting Blues have a four match unbeaten league run behind them, and are eight games unbeaten on their own patch- six wins. The second place Chats, however, have been better on the road than on their own patch this season, losing only one of their ten matches on their travels so far this season.

A Chatham win will see them close the gap on the Urchins to eight points- a Billericay victory will see them take over in second place, nine points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Margate welcome Haringey Borough to the seaside. This will be the Blues fifth match in a row at home, and they’ve taken seven points from the previous four, defeating Lewes comfortably on Saturday. Their visitors find themselves at the bottom of the table, but they have been better on the road than at Coles Park, defeating Folkestone Invicta, Cheshunt and Ipswich Wanderers away from home last month. Only at Whitehawk did they come unstuck, their penchant for conceding late goals haunting them once more.

Borough won the last meeting between the sides, back in April, by the only goal of the match.

In the Velocity Cup, Kingstonian welcome Dulwich Hamlet to Imperial Fields. The two sides met in the league a few weeks ago, Hamlet triumphing three-two at Champion Hill, so the K’s have an early shot at revenge- and they’d like to start a winning run, as their form has been rather hit and miss. This will be their fifth home match in a row, and three of them have ended in defeat- whilst Hamlet have been a little improved of late, FA Trophy defeat against Lewes their only defeat in five.
