A quick Serge- and it's in the net!

Merstham yesterday confirmed the signing of Serge Makofo, but we'd already noticed as he scored the second goal in their FA Cup win at Merstham on Saturday.

Serge, who came on in the sixty first minute with the match still goalless, is not entirely new to the Pitching In Isthmian League, as he has spent time here with Dulwich Hamlet and Tooting and Mitcham United. Much travelled, the veteran forward- he can also play in midfield- has played for MK Dons, Maidstone United, Burton Albion, Grimsby Town and Kettering Town, amongst others, and has also played in Cyprus and Scotland- perhaps because he wanted to experience extremes of temperature.

Sunday shouldn't have been his first match at the Mayfield Stadium in Thornton Heath, as he also had a spell with Croydon Athletic in 2008-09.
