A Seaside Special

By Ian Townsend

Ramsgate and Whitehawk play host to Hythe Town and Beckenham Town as the quartet dream about a place in the Premier- it's Semi-Final time

It's a Pitching In Isthmian South East seaside special, as we head to Ramsgate and Brighton- home of the mighty Hawks- for our Play Off Semi Finals.

We'll be bringing you a report from Whitehawk v Beckenham Town. Only one point separated the sides at the end of the campaign, and both recorded home wins against the other during the regular season, which we suppose makes the Hawks favourites, if only just. At the end of last season the Hawks had only just been declared safe from relegation, so the turnaround in their fortunes under Shaun Saunders has been both dramatic and impressive; whilst Becks, of course, have had a marvellous first Isthmian campaign since their promotion and are looking to make it two in a row. You can purchase tickets here.

On the Kent coast, long time leaders Ramsgate welcome the last day interlopers, Hythe Town. The Rams form tailed off as we approached the end of the campaign, and indeed their final day victory was their first in seven matches; whilst the Cannons ended the season like their lives depended on it, with six consecutive wins during which they conceded only two goals, keeping four clean sheets.

When the two sides met on August Bank Holiday Monday the Rams came from behind to triumph, Jerald Aboagye and Ashley Miller cancelling out Johan Caney-Bryan's opener. The Rams also defeated the Cannons in the Velocity Cup, before making it three out of three with a one-nil win on Boxing Day, Jack Paxman the scorer. The latter result left the Cannons in fifteenth, which perhaps demonstrates their magnificent progress since under manager Steve Watt. We suspect it may be far more difficult for the Rams to deliver a fourth victory of the season over their visitors.

Tickets can be purchased here.

The very best of luck to each of our sides.
