A Tanners duo

By Ian Townsend

Amadou Tangara and Ibrahim Olutade new at Leatherhead

Prior to Saturday's win at Raynes Park Vale Leatherhead announced the return to the club of Jerry Puemo, who had been away on loan, and the arrival of a new duo, although both were familiar Isthmian names.

Amadou Tangara, a goalkeeper, has been with Sevenoaks Town this season, playing nineteen times, but he has mainly played at a higher level. He ended last season in Pitching In Southern Premier with Met Police, after playing for Horsham- eight appearances- and Margate- eleven appearances. He was previously at Bognor Regis Town.

He joined the Rocks in October 2019 after leaving Kingstonian. He was superb behind the Rocks defence, making fourteen appearances during the 2020-21 season before it crashed to an end, twenty nine during 2019-20 before the pandemic hit, and another forty eight during 21-22.

He has also played for Dulwich Hamlet, Merstham, North Greenford United and Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Forward Ibrahim Olutade needed little introduction to the Tanners fans. He moved back to Fetcham Grove from Walton and Hersham, where he had only been for a few months, but of course he started the campaign with Folkestone Invicta. He had eight goals in nineteen appearances for Invicta this season before his move to the Swans, and that followed seventeen in a colossal fifty two appearances for the stripes last season.

Ibrahim came to our attention due to his performances for Hanwell Town during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring four goals in eleven matches- including one against Leatherhead in the FA Cup, and the Tanners subsequently snapped him up. He played another thirty one times for the Tanners that season, and was rather prolific, getting the attention of Maidstone United. The Stones loaned him back to the Tanners for the following season, and he managed sixteen goals in twenty four matches.

He returned to the Stones, and then moved on to spend the 21-22 season in National League South with Tonbridge Angels, playing regularly and scoring half a dozen goals.
