A Tuesday night friendly round up

By Ian Townsend

We had lots of our sides in action last night. Here- to the best of our knowledge- is how they got on- with particularly notable wins for Concord Rangers, Hashtag Utd, Enfield, South Park, Stowmarket, Whitehawk, Margate, Marlow & Westfield

As always, this round up relies entirely on the miracle of social media- so if it's short on detail, that's because detail is short!

Chipstead had a fine start to their pre-season at AFC Uckfield Town, leaving Sussex with a three-nil win. Iqbal, Dudley and Smith were the goalscorer. Basildon United did similarly well on the road at Barking, Walker and Brown scoring in a two-nil win.

Newly promoted Basingstoke Town have left us for the Pitching In Southern Premier, but they defeated Potters Bar Town narrowly at Winklebury. Two-one was the score, Max Jessop with the goal for the Scholars.

Billericay Town welcomed Aveley, who are preparing for their first campaign in National League South. The visitors took a three-one win, with Bradley Stevenson scoring for the Blues.

Bognor Regis Town welcomed a fairly strong Portsmouth side, and a goal from a trialist earned them a one-one draw. We don’t have an exact figure for the crowd, but apparently more than two thousand crowded into Nyewood Lane- image from Tommy McMillan.

Brantham welcomed Stowmarket Town, and Stow triumphed six-two. Ladbrook, Kirk (2), Collard and Sloots (2) scored for the visitors.

Brentwood Town welcomed Leyton Orient, the east Londoners departing with a three-one victory. Four hundred and eighteen watched, and Ogunleye scored for the Blues.

Burgess Hill Town defeated Faversham Town three-two, with two goals from trialists and another from Budd.

Canvey Island scored the only goal of the game as they welcomed Maldon & Tiptree- and it came from Sam Mvemba midway through the second half.

Dorking Wanderers and Leatherhead delivered a nine goal thriller, with Wanderers triumphing five-four.

Dover Athletic were the hosts after a long trek for Enfield, but it was worth the journey as our new North Division side won two-nil. Ofori and Gebrai scored the goals.

Dulwich Hamlet took on Bromley in the Glyn Beverly Memorial Cup, and the side in pink and blue lost on penalties after a two-two draw. Wanadio and Braham-Barret scored for Hamlet.

East Grinstead Town lost narrowly against a strong Crawley Town side, the Reds winning two-one with a late goal.

Fleet Town took on Corinthian-Casuals, and Casuals left with a two-two draw.

Folkestone Invicta welcomed Brightlingsea Regent in a seaside derby, and the Kent side defeated the Essex side two-one. Drury and Dent scored for the Stripes, Thompson for the R’s.

Guildford City hosted Raynes Park Vale, and Vale left with a two-one win. Hogan and Gunay found the net for the visitors.

Hadleigh United defeated Witham Town two-nil.

Hashtag United welcomed North Division new boys Redbridge, and the Tags ran riot, scoring six without reply. Teniola got a hat trick.

Herne Bay were at home once more, Lewisham Borough the visitors. Bay triumphed two-one, Carvalho and Trujillo the scorers in the first half.

Heybridge Swifts fell three-one as they hosted National League South side Chelmsford City. Harvey was responsible for the one.

Hollands and Blair and Phoenix Sports played out a one-one draw, with Thompson scoring for Sports, whilst Gorleston travelled to Leiston and lost six-one. Gilfedder got the one.

Maidstone Utd and Chatham Town ended goalless, but Margate v Canterbury City didn’t, Gate winning four-nil with goals from Smith (2), Sutcliffe and a trialist.

Marlow defeated Bracknell Town by three goals to two, Soares and Samuel amongst the scorers.

Whitehawk headed along the coast road to Newhaven, and came from behind to win five-two. Pope, Dixon, Robinson, Johnson-Fisher and O’Toole with the goals as the Hawks overturned a two goal deficit.

Newmarket Town and Wroxham delivered a goalless draw, whilst
Cray Valley won two-one at Punjab United.Parker and Ademiluyi scored for the Millers.

Reading City defeated Thatcham Town two-one, whilst Hythe Town drew one-one at Rochester United. Smith scored for the Cannons.

Runwell Sports were rather too welcoming to Concord Rangers, as the Beachboys scored eight without reply! Temple (2), Da Costa, Cue (2), Albon (2) and Day scored for the visitors.

Saffron Walden Town took on East Thurrock United, and the Rocks won three-one. Olukolu scored two, Camilo the other.

Selsey played seaside hosts to Horndean, the visitors winning three-one.
Sheppey United’s match against Bowers & Pitsea was abandoned in the second half after serious injury to a visiting player. The score was one-one, and we very much hope that the injured player has a speedy recovery.

Sittingbourne fell three-one as Ebbsfleet United came to call, with former Bishop’s Stortford striker Chris Harris scoring the Brickies goal.

Slough Town were too strong for Wingate & Finchley, the Blues departing with a three-one defeat.

Southall defeated Egham Town three-one, whilst South Park Reigate were impressive in defeating Premier Division Kingstonian three-nil. A trialist scored a hat trick, perhaps he won’t be a trialist for much longer!

Spelthorne Sports were defeated three-nil by Chertsey Town, all the goals coming in the second half, whilst Cheshunt did even better at Sutton Athletic, four goals in credit and keeping a clean sheet. Ngenga, Boadi, Ssengo and Orafu with the goals for the Ambers.

Three Bridges defeated AFC Varndeanians two-nil, Hounslow and Gayler with the goals, whilst Ashford Town ent down five-nil at Walton & Hersham.

Westfield were three-one winners over Hanwell Town at Woking College, whilst Whitstable Town were too strong for Erith & Belvedere, winning four-nil.
