AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- March 2022

By Ian Townsend

We have four deserved winners of our March Golden Gloves Awards, sponsored by the fabulous folks at AB1 Goalkeeping

It’s time to recognise our best defences of March!

Here we go:

Premier Division

We’re off to Bishop’s Stortford, and nobody is surprised. The Blues played five matches during March, picked up thirteen points- including a win over champions-elect Worthing- and didn’t concede a single goal. If we were to include results from February and April (don’t worry, we haven’t), that’s a rather incredible TEN clean sheets in a row. Our congratulations to Jack Giddens and his parsimonious defence.

North Division

We’re off to Parkside, and delivering a new pair of fabulous gloves to leaders Aveley. The Millers had a fine March, and seem to have found top gear just as their title rivals have developed a slight gearbox problem. Five matches, three wins and two draws, three clean sheets and three goals conceded wins them this award, and our congratulations go out to David Hughes and all those in front of him.

South Central Division

Bracknell Town don’t only have the best defence in the South Central Division, and the best defence in the Pitching In Isthmian League, but they also have the best defence in the top eight levels of the English football pyramid. On that basis it’s no real surprise that they are picking up our defensive accolades for March, a month during which they didn’t concede a single goal in their five matches and picked up the title. Michael Eacott and all who stand in front of him deserve our salute.

South East Division

We’ve just delivered a managerial prize to Hastings United, and now we’re off to make another delivery. Hastings will surely lift the title shortly, and they had a one hundred percent March, during which they conceded only one goal. We almost feel like giving Cray Valley a prize for scoring it- although they got nothing else from the match! Louis Rogers will be receiving a fabulous pair of gloves from Asmir Begovic and his team at AB1 Goalkeeping, and goodness, doesn’t he deserve them, after twenty two clean sheets so far this season.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'
