AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- November 2021

By Ian Townsend

Here are the winners of our November Golden Gloves Awards, sponsored by the fabulous folks at AB1 Goalkeeping

It’s time to recognise our best defences of November! Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics in league matches.

Here we go:

Premier Division

We’re off to the Camping World Community Stadium just off the A24, where Horsham had a magnificent November. Five league matches, five league wins, and only two goals conceded (they scored fourteen) shows just how good the Hornets were, and goalkeeper Sam Howes played in every match. Congratulations go to Sam and his parsimonious defence.

North Division

Stowmarket Town have had a fabulous start to life in the Pitching In Isthmian League, and November was a particularly good month for them. A month which delivered four clean sheets and a six-one win, and which saw them climb the table to the fringes of the playoff positions. James Bradbrook was the custodian who claimed those four clean sheets- indeed, he claimed five in a row if we look back into October- and is a deserved recipient of our award- very well done to James, and all who stand in front of him!

South Central Division

Bracknell Town’s November saw them play five matches in the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division, and not see their defence breached in four of them, whilst winning them all. Michael Eacott was the main man behind three of those clean sheets and four of their victories, in a month which saw them score thirteen league goals and concede only one, in victory over Basingstoke Town. Congrats go to Michael and to his rock steady back line.

South East Division

November saw Ashford United climb to the top of the Pitching In South East table, helped enormously by the fact that that they won every league match they played in! Hythe Town, Phoenix Sports and Sittingbourne were despatched without a single goal conceded, although VCD Athletic were more successful, as they managed to score one- however they conceded three. Those clean sheets were the responsibility of Tyler McCarthy, and we’d like to send our congratulations to Tyler and those he bellows instructions at- they must be rather good at following those instructions.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'
