Advantage Sports!

The Geordies seal their play off spot, whilst Basingstoke and Uxbridge fight over the final play off spot. It’s our Pitching In South Central round up.

Our big match saw second place Chertsey Town and third place Bedfont Sports battle it out, and it was the visitors who won that battle as the two swapped places. For once, the Sports goal didn’t arrive after the ninetieth minute, but instead went to Daniel Williams just after the hour.

Hanwell Town are up to fourth, and will end the season there if they can take a point from their final match. The Geordies were at Ashford Town and also won one-nil, Tom Collins getting the winner in a tense encounter nine minutes from time, firing home from the spot.

Basingstoke Town knew that a win would guarantee their play off spot, but now they’ll need to sweat as they found themselves properly buried by the Moles. James Beauchamp gave Binfield the lead just before half time, and just after the break Joe Gater made it two. Beauchamp added a third just before the hour, and although Conor Lynch got one back a red card for Stefan Brown ended the hosts chances, and perhaps helped Sean Moore to add a fourth for the Moles just before the end.

That result gives Uxbridge real hope. They welcomed Chalfont St Peter and won by three goals to one, taking themselves to within a point of fifth place. Juwon Akintunde gave them the lead after eleven minutes, Auguste Koute equalising for the Saints, but the hosts were ahead again eight minutes after the restart, Alex Witham making it three-one, and Mahlondo Martin rounded off the win four minutes from time.

The Saints host Basingstoke on Saturday, Stoke knowing that they need to equal or better Uxbridge’s result at South Park to take the final play off place.

Marlow saw their play off hopes end as Thatcham Town won one-nil at the Alfred David Ground, Alex Miller’s late goal enough for the Kingfishers, whilst Champions Bracknell Town continued to do Bracknell things, walloping Westfield four-nil with two goals from Dave Tarpey, one from George Knight and a fourth from Aaron McLeish-White.

Chipstead and Sutton Common Rovers played out a one-one draw, Andy Kabiukusomo giving the hosts the lead fourteen minutes from time only for Tony Halsey to equalise almost immediately; whilst; Guernsey entertained South Park in another one one draw, Ben Acey and Melford Simpson the scorers.

Tooting & Mitcham United defeated relegated Staines Town three-one. Enoch Sko-Adjei gave the Terrors an early lead and they doubled it on fifteen minutes through Prince Mbengui, only for the Swans to halve the arrears almost immediately, Yahya Aly with the goal. Anuar Ceesay made sure of three points just after the hour mark.
