An Athletic duo

By Ian Townsend

Phil Roberts and Elliot Sartorius are new at Grays Athletic

Grays Athletic added two new names to their squad prior to Saturday's match against Wroxham.

Forward Phil Roberts came in from Margate, who he joined in January 2023. He made fourteen appearances for Gate last season, scoring twice, and has made fifteen appearances with two more goals this season.

Phil played youth football at Norwich City and then Arsenal, before heading north of the border. His time in Scotland saw him play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Falkirk, Dundee and Alloa Athletic.

After some time in Ireland with Sligo Rovers he returned to the South East with the likes of Chelmsford City, Braintree Town, Hemel Hempstead Town, Dartford and Wealdstone, and over the last few seasons he has spent a little time in our ranks with Romford, Brentwood Town and Tilbury.

Midfielder Elliot Sartorius came through the ranks at Lincoln City, and this season has been with Waltham Abbey in the Pitching In Southern League, making twenty three appearances with four goals. In between the Imps and the Abbots he spent a short time with Bowers and Pitsea last season, making ten appearances, and he has also played for Punjab United and St Neots Town.
