An FA Cup- South Central- Round up

By Ian Townsend

Here’s how our Pitching In Isthmian South Central sides got on in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round- with wins for Uxbridge, Southall and Badshot Lea

Ardley United were the hosts for Ascot United, and almost got the better of the Yellas- but not quite. In the very last minute Harry Laflin equalised for the visitors to earn a one-one draw and another shot at glory.

Chipstead welcomed Peacehaven & Telscombe, the visiting Magpies having started their Southern Combination Football League Premier campaign with a win. The visitors took a one goal lead into the break, but a Bradley Wilson penalty earned the Chips a trip to the Sussex coast in midweek.

Tunbridge Wells fans will wonder how their side lost against Uxbridge. The hosts were two goals to the good at the break, and although Anuar Ceesay gave the visitors something to cling to on fifty two minutes we reached the last minute with the hosts ahead. At that point Uxbridge came alive, Shaun Preddie and Bernard Mensah Jr snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Sutton Common Rovers welcomed Burgess Hill Town to Whyteleafe, and the two will start again in Mid Sussex in midweek after a one-one draw. Hill will be disappointed with that, as they held the lead for more than an hour- Rob O’Toole with the goal- until Charlie Martin levelled right at the end. Image from Chris Neal.

Ashford Town (Middx) v AFC Uckfield Town was postponed, whilst Westfield welcomed SCEFL side Fisher, neither side managing a goal despite the visitors picking up a red card twenty minutes from time.

Merstham and Raynes Park Vale met in a clash of South East and South Central, and the Moatsiders came through- just! Reuben Collins gave them an early lead only for Brad Sweeney to level on nineteen minutes, but the winner arrived eight minutes from time, Michael Dixon with it.

Saltdean United welcomed Badshot Lea, and the visitors took the seaside spoils, winning four-two. Steven Sylla and Kane Fitzgerald twice gave the visitors the lead only to be pegged back, but after the break Billy Oram and Kane Fitzgerald made sure of victory.

Southall and Chichester City will get rather used to seeing each other over the coming weeks, as their South Central v South East tie will be repeated on September 9th in the FA Trophy- and it’s first blood to the All, Luke Heneghan with the only goal.

Paulton Rovers of Pitching In Southern Premier Division One South welcomed a new-look Thatcham Town, and the hosts clipped the Kingfishers wings in a five-one defeat. Justin Bangura scored the consolation, but it wasn’t much consolation.
