An important night for the North promotion chasers

By Ian Townsend

Felixstowe and Stowmarket meet in the race for a play off place, whilst Lowestoft Town can almost guarantee home Semi-Final advantage with victory over Bury Town

Felixstowe and Walton United welcome Stowmarket Town tonight in a match which is critical to the Pitching In Isthmian North promotion race. The Seasiders are four points away from fifth spot with two games in hand; whilst Stow are a point above them and will replace Grays Athletic in fifth should they triumph at the seaside.

Both sides have lost form at a critical point. The Seasiders have won only two of their last seven matches, whilst Stow, after delivering a perfect match and winning all three of our monthly awards, have lost every match they’ve played in April- three defeats in a row. Neither side can really afford to lose this one, and even a draw wouldn’t be a good result- particularly for Stow, who would only have two games to go. When the two sides met on January 2nd, three early goals for the Seasiders gave them a three-two win.

Third place Lowestoft Town could effectively seal that third place- and home advantage in their Play Off Semi Final- with victory over Bury Town this evening. The Trawler Boys got back to winning ways after two defeats when beating Basildon United three-two at the weekend, whilst Bury have finally discovered some form of their own, winning their last two. The match between the two sides at Ram Meadow in January ended one-one.
