Canvey boss Kimble departs

Canvey Island have announced the departure of boss Garry Kimble 'by mutual consent.' 

Garry joined the Gulls in October 2025, replacing Peter Taylor. Despite improved results he was unable to save them from top flight relegation, and he leaves them in twelfth place in Pitching In Isthmian North, with three wins, a draw and two defeats from six competitive matches this season. 

He moved to the Gulls from Witham Town. Garry took charge of Witham in the summer of 2023, steering them to fourteenth in 23-24 and then to seventh during the 24-25 season. He left them in eleventh place in Pitching In Isthmian North. 

He was also previously in charge at Spa Road during a five year period which saw his side win the Essex Senior League in 2012. They followed that with a Play Off Semi Final defeat in their first Isthmian North season, and then with a Play Off Final victory in 2013-14, a match which saw them defeat Harlow Town three-nil to earn promotion to our Premier Division. Relegation sadly followed after one season, and he departed the club in February 2016.

 As a player, Garry had a fine career, playing for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Cambridge United, Doncaster Rovers, Fulham, Gillingham, Peterborough United and Dagenham & Redbridge. As a manager, before his first spell at Town he spent time at Tilbury and Burnham, and he spent a little time in charge of Great Wakering Rovers during 2018-19.
