Dicks out- again

Heybridge Swifts boss Julian Dicks departs

Heybridge Swifts have announced the end of Julian Dicks latest spell as manager.

In a short statement, released on social media, the club explained:

‘Heybridge Swifts can confirm that Julian Dicks has resigned from his position as First Team Manager. We’d like to thank Julian for his time, effort and commitment during his spell in charge and wish him all the best for the future. Adrian Whitbread will take charge of the First Team on an interim basis while the club explores its options.’

Dicks took over as Swifts boss for a third time in May 2024.

The former Birmingham City, West Ham United, Liverpool and- of course- Canvey Island player had his first spell in charge of the club in 2018, and eventually steered them to Play Off victory at the end of the 18-19 campaign only for them to be cruelly denied promotion on points per game. He departed to take up a coaching position at West Bromwich Albion, but returned to Scraley Road for the start of the 21-22 campaign, only to depart once more a few months later. A spell as Assistant Manager at Watford followed, before he returned to Swifts to replace Steve Tilson. His previous managerial experience also includes a spell in charge at Grays Athletic, and he also spent time managing West Ham United Ladies.
