Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Egham Town

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. 

We head to Egham Town, with Paul Mccolm bringing us his views. 

Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Playing at a higher level, learning earlier on in the season that we could compete at this level, playing decent attacking football at a better standard. Although we had won the CCPLN easily, the football was better to watch, and more competitive.

Match wise, a thrilling 3.2 win over Westfield, where Egham scored twice in time added on.

And what was the worst moment?

Losing 5-1 [ somewhat undeservedly], away at a decent AFC Portchester side. Also realising that if we had converted a few more of our draws, we would probably made the Play – Off positions

Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Conner Cullen, leagues joint top scorer, and a rare talent at this level.

Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?

Brad Clayton, a small tricky player with a deadly throw. Also Excellence Muhemba, the nearest the club has to a cult hero.

Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

We have retained most of last years team so I am optimistic for a top half finish, but we are not as well resourced as some other teams in the league. A play off push may be beyond us, but you never know as we took points off all the top five except Leatherhead last season.

If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?

Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses.

From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?

Nathan Hogan at Leatherhead, him and Conner Cullen would have been formidable. I would also be open to having Lewis Gallifent back from Westfield.

Which matches are you most looking forward to going to - and why?

Personally I love going to Bedfont Sports where I always see a decent game, and there’s the added bonus of watching the planes land at Heathrow!

What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Personally I love going to Bedfont Sports where I always see a decent game, and there’s the added bonus of watching the planes land at Heathrow!

If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Can’t think of any great  food, but I loved the Mad Squirrel beers at Hayes and Yeading.
