Egham Town halt Bognor’s top spot hopes, Hayes hit four and Windsor win late. It was an away win South Central Tuesday!

Bognor Regis Town have experienced a slowdown in form of late, a run of one win in four having seen them overhauled at the top by Jersey Bulls- but the Rocks were aware that victory over Egham Town would send them back to the summit. The travelling Sarnies started the night in fourth and in good form, and were looking for a seventh win in a row- so the hosts couldn’t have had tougher opponents.

We waited until the sixty ninth minute for a goal, and when it arrived it went to the visitors, and to Connor Cullen- his twelfth of the season- particularly impressive when you consider they’ve all arrived in his last twelve matches- and it quickly got worse for the Rocks, Tommy Block dismissed. The visitors held onto what they had- and climbed to third.

Third bottom Ascot United knew that victory over Hayes and Yeading United would see them climb out of the bottom four- but having lost their last four, and indeed with only one win from ten, the Yellas were certainly not the favourites against a visiting side who were seven unbeaten- albeit prone to ending up with only one point.

Hayes took the lead on eleven minutes, Louis Rogers up from the back to score, and their advantage was doubled twelve minutes later, Amari Fashanu scoring his eighth of the campaign. Rogers enjoyed his goal so much that he decided to score another one, making it three-nil three minutes before half time, but there was still time before the break for Hani Berchiche to get one back. Just after the hour it was four-one, and Rogers had claimed the match ball, and although Quinn Shutter added a second for the hosts ten minutes from time that was as good as it got for the home faithful. Hayes are eleventh, United are two points from safety.

Bedfont Sports, in fourteenth, were at home to the side one point and one place behind them, Windsor and Eton. Sports picked up their first win in six at the weekend, whilst their visitors had only one win in seven- but it was Windsor who took the lead just after the hour, Jack Mazzone scoring from the spot. The lead lasted only four minutes before Dan Williams levelled, but the last word went to Shakespeare, Jack Shakespeare writing three points for the visitors five minutes from time. Windsor go twelfth.

In the Velocity Cup Faversham Town hosted Littlehampton Town. The Lilywhites took the lead on twenty six minutes, Matt Newman with the opener, and Henry Sinai made it two just after the break. Tommie Fagg made it three-nil with twenty three minutes remaining to seal victory. Still they weren’t finished, and Littlehampton, who have been conceding goals by the bucketload of late, went four and five down in the closing stages, Josh Strouts with both of them. That was that, Faversham comfortably through to the next round.

Southall host Westfield- fifth v eighth- this evening.
