Seven goal Rocks show no mercy

Seven goal Rocks show no mercy

Bognor are eight clear- and win in style, whilst Moneys hit five. Bulls go second, Vale move third, and Tangerines win late and go seventh. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up

Our South Central Tuesday featured seven matches, but it took rather a long time to feature a goal- twenty one minutes in fact. When that goal arrived it came to Moneyfields, Tom Cain putting them ahead against third place Winchester City- the Moneys looking for a third win in four. The hosts doubled their lead five minutes later, Harrison Brook making it two, but City were back in it seven minutes later, Scott Bungay halving the arrears. Four minutes before half time James Franklyn restored the Moneys two goal advantage, and ten minutes from the end Sam Ashton ended any lingering doubts about victory by adding a fourth for the hosts. In added time Danny Burroughs added a fifth, and five-one was how it ended, the Moneys up to tenth, City down to fifth.

Leaders Bognor Regis Town took a rather large lead at the top into their match against visitors Hartley Wintney, and the confidence that they could make it larger still. Luke Roberts put them ahead on twenty seven minutes, and just before half time Toby Kingswell made it two. The home fans didn’t have to wait long for a third goal, Jake Cope scoring it two minutes into the second half, and within five minutes they had a fourth, too, Kaya Tshaka surely making quite sure of the points. Henry Nevill added a fifth sixteen minutes from time, and nine minutes later Ben Anderson made it six from the spot. Still there was no mercy, and Cope added number seven in added time, the Rocks now eight points clear and with a +sixteen goal difference after ten unbeaten matches.

Ashford Town welcomed Egham Town in a delicious clash of Tangerines and Sarnies, and it was the visitors who delivered the first course, Excellence Muhemba putting them ahead on twenty three minutes. The visitors were looking to go four unbeaten and continue their climb up the table,  but the hosts delivered a double blow just before the break, Ben Mulley and Jack Arnold turning the match in their favour. Eight minutes from time Egham drew level, Connor Cullen with the equaliser, but Arnold, who scored in first half added time, repeated the feat in second half added time- the Tangerines up to seventh. AFC Stoneham were honoured with our Performance of the Month award earlier in the day, but they were still looking for a first League win and fell behind on twenty nine minutes against visitors Jersey Bulls, James Sunley with the opener. Right at the end Lorne Bickley scored for the eighth time in nine matches to make it two, and Bulls are second, eight points behind the leaders- but with two games in hand. They remain unbeaten, too.

Raynes Park Vale took thirty nine minutes to take the lead against visitors Harrow Borough, but it took Omarr Lawson only two minutes to follow Mo Kamara’s opener and make it two-nil. Borough hit back just before the hour, Olu Akinode getting one back, but that was as good as it got for the visitors, who are seventeenth. Vale are third, eight points behind the leaders.

Bedfont Sports and unbeaten Southall couldn’t find a first half goal between them, and the pattern continued after the break. The All slip to eighth.

Westfield hosted Kingstonian, Field five unbeaten and the K’s looking to bounce back from two defeats. The opening goal took an hour to arrive and went to the visitors, Rocky Williams scoring from the spot, but four minutes from time Bryan Edwards dismissal saw the K’s reduced to ten men- did the hosts have time to take advantage? They did- five minutes into added time Alexandre Cruickshank delivered an equaliser and the sides had to share the points. Field are sixth, Kingstonian eleventh.
