Swifts swap Maher for Wilson
An Easter manager change for Heybridge Swifts
Easter Monday saw relegation confirmed for Heybridge Swifts, and it also saw the confirmed departure of manager Jason Maher.
Jason has only been in charge at Scraley Road since the start of December, and has been unable to halt their slide. He was previously part of the management team at Welling United and has also worked at Barking this season, alongside Craig Edwards.
His replacement, confirmed yesterday, is Luke Wilson. As a player, Luke found great success at Bowers and Pitsea, and indeed played one hundred and twenty six times for the club, scoring twenty four goals, and won both the Essex Senior League and Essex Senior League Cup. He also played for many more of our clubs, including Aveley, Hashtag United, Tilbury, Billericay Town, Grays Athletic, Heybridge Swifts, Tilbury and AFC Sudbury.
He went into management alongside Joe Flower at Runwell Sports, and the duo then stepped up to manage Bowers in January last year. He departed the Len Salmon after four months in joint-charge.
