Tags and Greens open up a three point gap

Hashtag United continued their fine start to the season as they walloped Grays Athletic at Chadfields last night. The Tags went ahead on twelve minutes, a second League goal in three matches for Jason Ring, and ten minutes before the break they added a second, Nathan Wilson with his second of the campaign.

Athletic are on a dreadful run, and were hoping to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat- and they were given some hope when Denim Nnamudi got a goal back ten minutes into the second half- but that hope didn’t last for long. Twelve minutes from time Sam Park made it three-one, ten minutes later Praise Ogbebor scored for the fourth time this season, this one after spending only three minutes on the pitch- and still the visitors weren’t done, Ellis Devereux adding a fifth and taking his personal tally of League goals to eight in added time.

The Tags remain at the summit on goal difference- and it is rather an impressive goal difference, as they’ve averaged three goals a game, leaving them on +23. Athletic find themselves in the bottom four, a point from safety.

Gorleston ensured that they remained tied on points with the Tags with victory over Felixstowe and Walton United- but they left it as late as possible to claim the points. A goalless draw was as good as sealed, and then, with two added minutes already played, Travis Cole took control- his winner ensuring the Greens have only goal difference separating them from top spot.

The Seasiders find themselves in eighth place, their inconsistent start to the campaign continuing.
