The Merstham Movie!
Forthcoming British Sci-fi film 'Butterfly' to be partly set at Moatside
Earlier this year Merstham had the pleasure of hosting part of the filming for the upcoming independent feature film Butterfly, with scenes shot around the ground as part of the story. The club and its surroundings form part of the backdrop to the film, which uses recognisable local spaces – including local football – to help ground the story in everyday British life.
The sci-fi film - which is due to be completed later this year before a festival run- features a strong ensemble cast including Jordan Adene (Doctor Who, The Sandman), Samiah Khan (Star Wars: Andor, The Power), Elliot Cable (Sweetpea, A Thousand Blows), Isobel Thom (Too Much, Big Mood), and Owen Warner (Hollyoaks, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!).
It was written and directed by Sam Picariello and filmed across London and Surrey, with Merstham FC's fabulous Moatside one of the locations featured. Sam is making his feature film debut, but is known for successful projects with Disney and Paramount.
We look forward to seeing Merstham on the big screen!
