Banton for Brightlingsea

Herne Bay forward Jason Banton moves to a different seaside

Brightlingsea Regent gave a debut to forward Jason Banton in defeat at Corinthian-Casuals on Saturday, after he arrived from fellow strugglers Herne Bay.

Jason had only been with Bay for two months, managing seven appearances. He moved to Winch's Field from Sittingbourne, where he also made seven appearances this season.

He ended last season with Premier Division promotion chasers Bishop's Stortford, making seven appearances. He moved to the Blues from Kingstonian.

The former Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers youth player- who also counts Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Leicester City amongst his clubs- first came to prominence at Plymouth Argyle, and also played in the Football League for Wycombe Wanderers, Notts County and Crawley Town.

After leaving the Red Devils he headed to Woking, and has also turned out for St Albans City, Truro City, Dulwich Hamlet and Braintree Town. He was one of many players brought into Romford by Glenn Tamplin, before joining the Cray Wanderers at the start of the 20-21 campaign, scoring four goals in his ten appearances before heading off hoping to finish the season at Braintree Town when ours came to an end.
