BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: VCD Athletic

Our very last trip South East sees us land at Oakwood.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Jonathan Watkins had much to enjoy last year, as his VCD Athletic side fell just short but served up some thrilling football. Will it be even better this year? Of course it will!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

The win at home against East Grinstead Town. It was an absolutely amazing nine goal thriller that had everything.

2. And your worst moment?

Missing out on the Playoffs by one point.

3. How will you do this season?

We have retained some great players from last season and recruited well. I would love to see us in the playoffs this season.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Hastings United as we always have close games with them- and of course our neighbours Phoenix Sports, as always a great crowd.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Guernsey. What a fantastic away day with great hospitality and welcoming committee.
6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Our biggest rivals have to be Phoenix Sports. They are located only approximately three hundred metres from our ground, which has to be some kind of record. A match against them is always a great occasion with a great crowd.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Any visiting fan should enjoy our warm hospitality and our facilities- from our clubhouse bar to our burger bar in the ground. Also our pitch is second to none at this level- a great surface which always makes for a great game.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

For me it’s our current striker Charlie Macdonald, a model professional with experience from the Premier Division (with Charlton Athletic) and throughout the English League system. In his first season he won the Isthmian League golden boot, and he is an important influence to the team and our younger players.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Hastings United, Whitehawk, Haywards Heath Town, Ashford United and of course VCD Athletic.

Right, we’re done! We’ll be back with the predicted league table on Saturday morning. Thanks to all who took part, and to the many of you who have taken time to read and debate these articles.
