Bostik Supporters Predictions 2018-19: Premier Division- the outcome!

By Ian Townsend

Back in the summer, we asked supporters from each of our clubs to predict the outcome of the season. How did they do? It's time to find out!

It’s becoming something of a tradition. We started the 2017/18 season by asking our supporters to predict the outcome of our -then- three Divisions. How did they do? Well, if we’re honest, fairly badly!

At the start of the season which has just ended with the Premier Super Playoff Final, we asked again- only now we had four divisions to worry about. So, it’s time to see whether our supporters knew their onions, or whether their predictions would end up causing us tears- probably of laughter. To end, let’s look at what you predicted for the Premier Division.

Normally at this point we start with the positives, however it’s rather difficult this time. You predicted that Bognor Regis Town would win the title, and they came fourteenth. You were sure that third placed Haringey Borough would be relegated, and look how that turned out. Dorking Wanderers weren’t going to make the top five, Kingstonian- who finished eighteenth- would qualify for the playoffs (mind you, don’t feel bad about that, we all thought it), relegated Whitehawk would finish seventh, second placed Carshalton Athletic were going to finish fifteenth, fifth placed Merstham were going to finish sixteenth, Burgess Hill Town were going to be well clear of relegation…ok, we’ll stop now.

You did get a few things right. You were absolutely correct that Tonbridge Angels would be fourth, Leatherhead would finish eighth, and that Harlow Town would be relegated. You were nearly right about the finishing positions of Enfield Town, AFC Hornchurch and Corinthian-Casuals. But perhaps everything else just confirms what an unpredictable season we’ve just had?

So, take a look at your predicted table, and the actual table- which we’ve borrowed from those lovely folk at the Non League Paper- and see do some comparing and contrasting. Thanks to all who took part- and if you’d like to be involved next season, please get in touch via townsendaround@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you once we know who will be in our four divisions.
