Bowers bring in promotion-winning keeper

By Ian Townsend

David Hughes is new at Bowers & Pitsea

Bowers & Pitsea will hope to bounce straight back to the Pitching In Isthmian Premier, and they've brought in a keeper who understands exactly what promotion feels like, David Hughes joining the club from AFC Sudbury.

David joined the Yellows in October last year, and went on to play thirty four times- with fifteen clean sheets- as his side clinched promotion via the Play Off's. David, of course, already knew what it felt to win North Division promotion, as he was between the sticks when Aveley triumphed the season before- when he kept eighteen clean sheets. He was also an enormous part of the Millers run to the Quarter Finals of the FA Trophy during the pandemic hit 2019-20 campaign, and had been a critical part of their squad for five seasons before his departure.

He was previously with Harlow Town, Thurrock and Enfield Town.
