Can the Blues climb to fourth- and can the Motormen make it four wins in a row, and seven unbeaten?

By Ian Townsend

Brentwood Town travel to Basildon United, whilst Redbridge are at home for the fourth time in a week, and looking for a fourth consecutive victory- Ipswich Wanderers their visitors

Our North Tuesday focuses particularly on Brentwood Town’s attempt to move up to fourth place by winning their game in hand- a result which would also revitalise their chances of securing home advantage for the forthcoming Play Offs.

The Blues- along with any three of Lowestoft Town, Bowers and Pitsea, Felixstowe & Walton United and Bury Town (the first three on that list could still be champions)- have already qualified for the end of season party/heartbreak, but will be aware that victory tonight would see them close to within two points of third place with two matches remaining, so we suspect they’ll be focused not only on ending their campaign in good form but on grabbing home advantage. They travel not too far for a match against Basildon United this evening, the Bees looking to ensure they end what has been a largely positive season on a high. Six games without a win- including five defeats- has seen them slip down to tenth place, but that is not really reflective of some of the fine performances they’ve delivered during the campaign. If they can find their form they will be formidable opponents- and Brentwood will have clear memories of the last time the sides met, the Bees triumphing three-two at the Arena. The four prior meetings all went the way of the Blues.

Redbridge are ending the season in fine form. The Motormen are six unbeaten in the league, and- of course- have an Essex Senior Cup triumph to add to that. They play their fourth home match in just over a week looking to make it four home wins in a row, as they welcome seventeenth place Ipswich Wanderers. The visitors are on a run which includes only two wins from ten, and they’d probably just like to play Lowestoft Town every week, as they defeated our leaders twice this season. Whoever loses this one will have a rather speedy chance of revenge, as the sides meet again at the Doucy on Saturday!
