Cannons and Golds beat the weather- but can they beat Whitehawk and Sheppey United?

By Ian Townsend

We’ve three Pitching In Isthmian South East sides in action this evening, as Hythe Town look for Hawks revenge and Littlehampton Town welcome the Ites

Pitching In Isthmian Premier Whitehawk travel to the Kent coast to take on South East promotion hopefuls Hythe Town in the Third Round of the FA Trophy- a home tie against Chorley the reward. The last time the two sides met was in the South East Play Off Final at the end of last season, the Hawks delivering a narrow triumph, so this is a chance for the Cannons to see whether revenge can be served. The Hawks have proved difficult to defeat this season, but have become rather addicted to draws, with six of their last ten league matches ending level. The Cannons come into this match on the back of three consecutive wins, and defeated National League South side Tonbridge Angels in the last round.

Our Pitching In Isthmian South East programme this evening has almost been washed out- but Littlehampton Town appear to have survived the deluge, so credit to their ground team, particularly as the rest of Sussex resembles a giant puddle. The Golds welcome Sheppey United to the Sportsfield, and will hope to build on their win over Broadbridge Heath last Tuesday night- a result which ended a six match winless run. Their visitors are four matches unbeaten and seem to be well over their cup hangover- and another win tonight would see them jump into the top five.

Last season a Warren Mfula hat trick gave the Ites a three-two win on the Sussex coast, and in the rematch last January the Ites triumphed by seven goals to three, Jake Embery taking the match ball. Hopefully the two sides didn't use up their entire goal ration!
