Chips, Moles, Villains, Uxbridge and Swans lead the way

By Ian Townsend

We had some fine wins for Pitching In Isthmian South Central sides in the FA Trophy last night. Here's our round up.

Basingstoke Town have had a hit and miss start to their campaign, and that continued against Cirencester Town despite a Ezio Touray hat trick for the hosts. Cirencester scored five, partly perhaps due to the fact that Stoke spent most of the match with ten men after Nathan Smart saw red.

Bedfont Sports haven’t had the start to the campaign they might have expected, but they eventually came good last night and sparked joy amongst the home faithful. Hashtag United were the visitors, and they went ahead on eighteen minutes, Joni Vukaj with the opener- a lead they held until fourteen minutes from time, when Sam Evans drew the hosts level. Evans then scored again to leave the Tags only five minutes to find an equaliser, but it duly arrived through Alex Teniola, and off we went to penalties. Sports won the shootout, five-four. Chertsey Town welcomed Uxbridge in an all South Central clash. The Curfews are unbeaten in the league, but the visitors have had a fine cup season and it continued as they came back from an early deficit to win three-one. Trevan Robinson scored for the Curfews after just two minutes, but Jack Beadle drew Uxbridge level from the spot on the quarter hour and then it became the Dan Williams show, the striker scoring on forty and eighty minutes to send his side through to the next round.

Chipstead welcomed former Isthmian side Waltham Abbey to the High Road. The Abbots had scored fourteen goals scored in three cup ties this season, but they conceded four in the first half as the Chips went goal crazy. Charlie Kennett got the opener on four minutes only for the visitors to quickly equalise, but after that it was all Chips, Jonathan Hood, Jensen Grant and Michael Dixon making it four-one by the thirty third minute. An own goal seventeen minutes from time gave the visitors some hope, but it was a forlorn hope at best.

Cinderford Town of Pitching in Southern Division One South played host to Thatcham Town. Cinderford had conceded eight goals in their last two matches, whilst the Kingfishers were still searching for their first victory- but the only goal of the game came in the very first minute, Ashley Howell giving the visitors victory.

Pitching In Isthmian North hosted Pitching In Isthmian South Central as Sutton Common Rovers arrived at East Thurrock United. All the goals came after the break, Brian Moses giving the hosts the lead, an own goal making it two, and a late flurry seeing the visitors get one back through Kevin Diomande only to concede almost immediately. Ollie Spooner making it three-one.

FC Romania renewed acquaintances with Westfield, and then won the match on penalties. Jacob Breckon gave Field the lead just before the break, but they held it for just two minutes and then lost the shootout four-two to depart the competition.

Haywards Heath Town have had a damp squib start to the season, and are still searching for a first victory after visitors Southall won a penalty shootout at Hanbury Park. After a goalless ninety minutes the Pitching In Isthmian South Central side triumphed eight-seven from the spot.

Marlow welcomed Binfield in another all South Central tie. The Moles are having a fine season- undefeated in all competitions and with the visit of National League South Tonbridge Angels to come on Saturday- and they put Marlow to the sword last night, rattling home four goals without reply, two in each half. Johnny Efedje got the first on twenty five minutes, Jonathan Denton got the second just before the break, and Sean Moore and Brandon Curtis got numbers three and four.

South Central leaders Northwood welcomed Hanworth Villa. The Woods have won every league match so far, their only defeat of the campaign coming against Ashford Town in the cup- and their cup difficulties continued as the Villains won three-nil. All the goals came after the break, Tom Bender with two, Jordan Ellis with the third, the last two coming in the last five minutes of the match.

Tooting & Mitcham United welcomed Corinthian to Imperial Fields, and neither managed a goal, so we were off to a shootout lottery. The visitors emerged victorious, seven-six.
Walthamstow, mid table in their first Pitching In Southern Division One Central campaign, welcomed Ashford Town. The Tangerines were quickly ahead, Lewis Flatman on ten minutes, and midway through the second half Clyde Ondo made it two. A goal for the hosts three minutes from time made the closing stages interesting, but it was Town who struck next, Danyaal Iqbal giving them a comfortable win.

Walton & Hersham were excellent in defeating Beaconsfield Town in the FA Cup last week, and had already defeated visitors Leatherhead two-nil on August Bank Holiday Monday. The Swans did it again, first half goals from Taurean Roberts, Jordan Adeyemi and Max Blackmore giving them an unassailable lead. Jermaine McGlashan did get one back for the Tanners, but their miserable start to the campaign continues.
