Curfews bring back Anderson

If you suddenly need a manager, why not bring back a club legend? Dave Anderson is back at Chertsey Town

Chertsey Town have been looking for a manager since parting company with Wayne Carter last week- and they've gone for the man who delivered them untold past glories, former boss Dave Anderson.

Dave steered the Curfews to promotion to our ranks and to FA Vase glory at Wembley- indeed that Vase triumph was his last match in charge before retirement. After two years of retirement he returned to the game as Assistant at Barnet, leaving the Bees in April, and now he's ready to see if he can take the Curfews up once more.

The club released the following statement:

Chertsey Town has great pleasure in announcing the return of Dave Anderson as manager back to the club. This will be his second spell at Alwyns Lane. The first came in 2018 to do a specific job in getting his side to win the FA Vase and gain promotion to the Isthmian League, all of which was done with much aplomb.

He is back again with the task of re-energising Chertsey Town’s quest to win promotion to Step Three of the non-league pyramid following the club’s disjointed start to the season.

Dave is a respected figure in football management with well documented successes at a number of non-league clubs, including three successful years at AFC Wimbledon. His professional career was as a goalkeeper, at which position he won international caps for his native Northern Ireland.

Chertsey Town Chairman Mark Turner stated, “I am absolutely delighted that Dave agreed to return to the Curfews. He knows what the club is about which is a testament to what it currently has, and how much potential it offers.

His appointment continues to signal that Chertsey Town is pressing upwards. This signature signing will strengthen the club’s resolve for further success. It will be wonderful to work with him again. We are all looking forward to even more interesting times at Alwyns Lane.”
