Curfews hit four- and hit the summit

By Ian Townsend

Only four matches survived the weather, but Chertsey Town go top of Pitching In Isthmian South Central, Hartley Wintney go fifth, and we’ve wins for Westfield and Uxbridge

Hartley Wintney hit the top five with victory over Guernsey, following last weekends five goal haul with a goal in each half to defeat the Green Lions. Reece Wylie opened the scoring just before the break, and eleven minutes after the restart Marcio Neves made it two. That was that, Guernsey remaining second bottom.

With Raynes Park Vale and Southall’s matches disappearing under the deluge, Chertsey Town had the chance to go top if they could get a positive result at South Park Reigate. They made the breakthrough just before the break, Conor Lee with the opener, and shortly after the restart a red card for Ethan Kaiser ensured that the Sparks had an uphill struggle. The Curfews quickly took advantage, Gianluca Botti making it two-nil, and two more in the last ten minutes made things rather more comfortable, Oliver McCoy with a third- from the spot- and Sam Omperon getting the fourth. The Curfews reach the summit.

Westfield had won four of their last five in the league, and that upward mobility looked to continue as two early goals gave them a comfortable lead over Thatcham Town at Woking Park. Manolis Gogonas put them ahead after just two minutes and added another seven minutes later, but the lead looked less comfortable with seventeen minutes left, Harry Heath pulling a goal back for the Kingfishers. The hosts held on, and are tenth.

After a goalless first half, Ashford Town and Uxbridge finally saw a goal arrive eleven minutes after the restart- and it went to the visitors, George Moore putting them ahead. The Tangerines levelled five minutes from time, Jack Arnold looking to have earned them a point- but right at the end Dean Gordon had other ideas, making it two-one and three points for Uxbridge, who are seventh.
