Derek Asamoah makes a North move

Derek Asamoah leaves New Salamis for 'an offer he couldn’t refuse' at Brightlingsea Regent

Pitching In Isthmian North side New Salamis yesterday announced the departure of veteran striker Derek Asamoah, explaining:

'We would all like to thank Del for everything he has done for the club. He leaves as the clubs all time top goal scorer with 70 goals. Derek received an offer he couldn’t refuse and we wish him the best of luck.'

We soon found out his destination, as he was later announced as a new signing for Brightlingsea Regent, who currently sit in fifth place in the table. He may get to make a debut for his new club at Wroxham tomorrow.

Derek's senior football career is still going strong twenty three years after it started. His professional clubs include Northampton Town, Mansfield Town, Lincoln City, Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United, and he also spent time in Bulgaria, South Korea and Scotland. His time with New Salamis has been particularly prolific, and he already has twelve goals in thirteen appearances this season.
