Eleven in a row for Stoke...

By Ian Townsend

...whilst Kingstonian and Herne Bay have to settle for a point each

We don't normally start a round up by commenting on matches at Step Four when there is a Premier Division match to mention, but it isn't often that one of our Step Four sides register ELEVEN consecutive victories.

The victors last night were our Pitching In Isthmian South Central leaders, Basingstoke Town going seven points clear once more after a difficult win at Southall- a side who are always difficult to beat. The only goal went to Ben Cook nine minutes before the break- the second winning goal he's scored this month. Not only is that eleven wins in a row for Town, but it's sixteen wins from their last seventeen- a quite phenomenal record. Although, as we're sure boss Dan Brownlie has pointed out, such records will only be remembered if they go on to win promotion!

In Pitching In Isthmian Premier Kingstonian welcomed Herne Bay to Imperial Fields. The K's, who had recorded a morale-boosting win over Bognor at the weekend, looked as if they were well on their way to another when Alex MacAllister scored for the second game in a row, set up by new signing Keane Anderson. Bay levelled courtesy of a long distance wallop from Marcel Barrington, his tenth of the season, many of which have been rather spectacular.

The result leaves the hosts three points clear of the bottom four, whilst Bay are five points further back in twentieth place.
