Former Hornchurch midfielder makes Cray Wanderers debut

Cray Wanderers had a second half debutant in their FA Cup draw with Ramsgate yesterday, with the emergence from the bench of former Hornchurch midfielder Ellis Brown.

Ellis made ninety appearances for the Urchins after joining them from Merstham just before the pandemic, scoring seventeen goals- one of them in front of a rather larger audience than usual as it was the third in the clubs FA Trophy triumph at Wembley.

Ellis spent time in the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic, moved on to Southend United and first came to our attention when he spent time on loan at Witham Town in the middle of the 2014-15 campaign. He departed Southend and moved to East Thurrock United, then spending time with Tonbridge Angels before a first arrival at Merstham, at this point on loan.

He moved to Dartford before playing for Mark Stimson at Thurrock and Waltham Abbey, but was back at Merstham for the 19-20 campaign, and had played thirty four times before Hornchurch came calling.
