Invicta sign former Tanners boss

Sammy Moore to look good in stripes

Folkestone Invicta have announced the signing of former Leatherhead player-manager Sammy Moore.

Sammy, best known for his successful period at AFC Wimbledon, was a youth player at Charlton Athletic and Chelsea before moving to Ipswich Town, where he made his professional debut. He played for Brentford, Stevenage Borough and Dover Athletic before his five years with the Dons, then turned out for Leyton Orient before signing for Leatherhead as Player-Manager.

His success at Fetcham Grove, where he steered them to a famous cup run and missed out on the playoffs on goal difference, saw him snapped up by National League South Concord Rangers. He left Canvey despite steering Rangers to the playoffs, and became manager of Hemel Hempstead Town, leaving at the end of the 2019-20 season.

His signing at the BuildKent Stadium appears to be solely confined to a playing role. He could make his debut at Bishop's Stortford tonight.
