Four Bees

Bees busy in lockdown as Basildon add a quartet

Basildon United manager John Guyton has decided that lockdown is the perfect time to strengthen his squad, as yesterday he unveiled four new signings.

Defender Josh Steele moves up from Margate, where he graduated to the first team squad this season after being part of the Academy. He played in the Blues win at Brightlingsea Regent back in September, but otherwise has been mainly occupying a seat on the bench.

Brooklyn Kabongolo comes in on loan from Ipswich Town. Another defender, primarily a centre back, he's played for both the Under 18 and Under 23 sides at Portman Road.

Matt Bentley, we believe, is a forward who has been playing in the USA for Missouri State Bears and then Minnesota United. Highly rated and back in his home country he may well be a rather shrewd acquisition.

Finally, midfielder Joe Wicks has most recently been with Brentwood Town, for whom he has made four appearances this season. He came through the ranks at Millwall and has also turned out for Kingstonian, Greenwich Borough, Maldon and Tiptree and Witham Town.

This news will undoubtedly also appear on an inferior Non League website in the near future, with no credit given whatsoever!

Where next?

And then there was one Maldon and Tiptree and Cray Valley PM both needed to slay giants to progress to the FA Cup Second Round. Both delivered excellent performances, but neither could quite get the goal their endeavours deserved.
