Giles for the Chats

Gillingham defender Alex Giles makes Chatham Town debut

Chatham Town have signed young Gillingham defender Alex Giles on loan- and gave him his debut in Saturday's narrow home defeat against Hastings United.

Alex, who can play at centre back or full back, already has Pitching In Isthmian League experience. He spent part of last season at Sheppey United, making four appearances, and then spent even longer at Corinthian, where he played ten times- making his debut in a one-nil defeat against the Chats.

The previous season played twice for Faversham Town, as well as spending some time at Folkestone Invicta, where he doesn't seem to have featured in the first team.

He has been a regular in the youth sides for the Gills, and signed for the club when he was still at Primary School. He signed his first professional deal in the summer.
