Gills defender for Hastings

Bailey Akehurst signs on loan from Gillingham

Hastings United have confirmed the loan signing of Gillingham defender Bailey Akehurst, who may be familiar with some Isthmian watchers because he spent time on loan at Cray Wanderers last season.

Left back Bailey, who has featured on a number of occasions for the Gills first team, played the entire ninety minutes as United fell to a late defeat against Aveley on Saturday. He played only twice for the Wands, last September, in defeats against Potters Bar Town and Corinthian-Casuals.

His first senior appearance for the Gills was also in Sussex, at Crawley Town. He signed his first professional deal in June.
