Goals galore as Marlow and the Tanners narrow the gap

Chertsey Town welcomed Westfield to Alwyns Lane looking to- at the very least- maintain their twelve point lead at the top, but in the end they saw it cut to an only slightly more manageable ten points. The sixth place visitors were also rather desperate for three points, and they went ahead early on, Archy Taylor scoring after only nine minutes- but a twentieth in twenty nine matches for Oliver McCoy quickly drew the hosts level, and in the end earned them a point. Westfield are three points away from fifth place Southall with a game in hand- but the All have a better goal difference.

Marlow closed the gap on the Curfews to ten points by hammering bottom side Corinthian-Casuals. The hosts were three-nil up within eighteen minutes, courtesy of Dawid Rogalski’s thirty fifth and thirty sixth of the season, and a third from Dave Tarpey, only for Arthur Aderi-Dede to cut the arrears from the spot. Seven minutes into the second half an other for Tarpey- his twentieth and twenty first in twenty three matches- made it four-one, and that’s how it ended.

Third place Leatherhead are level on points with Marlow. The Tanners have been very good at the back this season, but their forward line got in on the act too, as they hit South Park Reigate for five- despite going behind early on. Craig McGee opened the scoring for the Sparks on eight minutes, but, rather like the incredible hulk, that got those in green rather angry, and they had hit four in reply by half time- Ibrahim Olutade getting a hat trick, Fikayo Atewologun the other. Raynes Park Vale remain fourth but had to settle for one point and no goals against Hanworth Villa, whilst Thatcham Town picked up three points at Ashford Town, Sam Tanner with the only goal of the game thirteen minutes from time. The Kingfishers ended the match with ten men, keeper Callum Smart dismissed right at the end, but it made no difference to the outcome.

Southall got back to winning ways and opened up a three point gap over sixth place Westfield by defeating Badshot Lea. The All scored a goal in each half, Lucias Vine on seventeen minutes, William Montague on sixty five, and that victory ended a three match losing streak and delivered a first win in six.

Met Police took a two goal lead into the second half against Hartley Wintney, but had to settle for a point. Rudy Appiah-Allen opened up an early lead on five minutes, with Ben Mendoza making it two seven minutes before the break- but the second half belonged to The Row, Conor Lynch levelling just before the hour and Tayo Oyebola making it two-two ten minutes later.

Ascot United ensured Guernsey’s home woes continued with a four-two hammering of the Green Lions on Footes Lane. The Yellas may not have been lions but they roared into a four-nil lead, Chris Ellis and Liam Tack in the first half, Tack and Harry Tucker in the first seven minutes of the second, before a double from Samuel Murray brought some respectability to the scoreline for the hosts, That’s five defeats in a row for the Green Lions, who saw Jamie Dodd sent off late on.

Uxbridge made it five wins from six by thumping Sutton Common Rovers at Honeycroft. It was three-nil at the break, Alex Witham and a double from Ezra Ndukuba leaving the visitors in disarray, and the fourth arrived just after the hour, Wilson Chingoka completing the rout. Uxbridge are eleventh, Rovers are fifteenth- four places but fifteen points behind.

Finally, we had a relegation battle at High Road, and the Chips were buried by the Moles, Chipstead losing five-nil against Binfield. The visitors went ahead just before half time, Mitchell Parker with the opener, and four minutes into the second half they doubled their advantage, Connor Holland making it two. Rahir Smith-Jones made it three just after the hour, and seven minutes from time Ethan Lindo made it four. Charlie George added a fifth just before the end- a result which saw Binfield close to within seven points of their hosts, with seven games in hand.
