Half a dozen new Blues

Wingate and Finchley announce Ben Frempah, Miles Mitchell-Nelson, Zack Newton, Brendan Shabani, Ahmet Biler and Christian Frimpong

Wingate & Finchley had a busy Saturday, announcing six new arrivals.

Ben Frempah, a centre back, spent most of last season at Pitching In Isthmian South Central side Leatherhead, making thirty appearances. He also spent a little time at Cheshunt and Enfield Town last season.

Ben went from our very own Cray Wanderers to Leicester City in 2013, but his time as a fox didn't lead to a long stay at the King Power and he headed north of the border, to play for Ross County.

South of the border again he played for Hendon, Guiseley and Solihull Moors before getting another professional chance with Wycombe Wanderers, a famous Isthmian club of yesteryear. After leaving the two blues he played briefly for Wingate & Finchley in September 2019, before heading off to Ebbsfleet United, from where he headed to Hayes and Yeading United.

Another centre back, Miles Mitchell-Nelson, spent some of last season with Potters Bar Town. Miles played for Southend United from youth to first team level, but had quite a lot of Isthmian time whilst a Shrimper, spending loan time with Harlow Town, East Thurrock United, Brightlingsea Regent and Canvey Island before moving to the Lantern Stadium. He ended last season at Woodford Town.

Zack Newton, a winger, came to prominence at Worthing, spending time a level higher at Welling United after leaving Woodside Road, only to return to the club. He went on to play for Met Police and Horsham before a move to Cheshunt, scored the goal that won them promotion against Hornchurch in the 21-22 Play Off Final, and spent last season in National League South.

Midfielder Brendan Shabani was an important part of Aveley's promotion push last season, making thirty two appearances. Brendon came through the youth ranks at Leyton Orient, going on to play for St Neots Town, Bishop's Stortford and Concord Rangers.

He is one of the founders of the Rising Ballers platform for aspiring young footballers.

Midfielder Christian Frimpong comes in from Needham Market. He came through the ranks at Swindon Town before playing for Braintree Town in the National League, before spending time with Lewes and AFC Sudbury. A spell with Chelmsford City in National League South followed, before he signed for the Marketmen last season.

Left back Ahmet Biler comes in from Harrow Borough. Ahmet came through the ranks at Southend United before a move to Harlow Town, until signing for Borough in the summer of 2021.
