Head Robin released

Steve McKimm to depart Carshalton Athletic

Sunday brought the surprising news that Carshalton Athletic and manager Steve McKimm are to part company at the end of the season.

Steve joined the Robins in May, after eight successful years at the helm of Tonbridge Angels. At Longmead he delivered promotion and stability at a higher level despite budget constraints, that memorable elevation coming when they defeated both Merstham and Met Police in Play Off Finals- yes, that was the year that they had to win two- to take promotion during 2018-19.

His season at Colston Avenue sees his side in mid table after hitting difficulties in recent weeks, six matches without a win.

A statement on the club website explained:

'1st team manager Steve McKim has been asked to step down at the end of this season.

It’s no secret that this season’s campaign has fallen well short of expectations and the club has decided to begin the search for someone to lead next year’s Campaign.

Steve’s last game in charge will be on Saturday 22nd April when the club faces Wingate & Finchley.'
