Canvey Island striker Sam Higgins has nine goals for the Gulls since making his latest debut just before Christmas, and the seventh of those- the opener in victory at Potters Bar Town on Thursday- was rather special, as the club have confirmed that it marked his four hundredth career goal.
Sam, of course, scored most of his goals at a higher level with Chelmsford City, East Thurrock United, Concord Rangers and Bromley, but will be particularly remembered in these parts as a Hornchurch legend. He scored five times as the Urchins defeated seven higher-division opponents (as well as Bowers and Pitsea and Wingate & Finchley) to win the FA Trophy in 2021, and went on to score thirty five goals for the Urchins as they reached the Play Off Final last season.
Congrats to Sam on a magnificent milestone. We look forward to goal five hundred!
