Highlights: Basildon United 0 Lowestoft Town 4

By Ian Townsend

A big Trophy win for the Trawler Boys

Basildon United welcomed Lowestoft Town in an all-North clash. The two sides had already met in the League this season- a one-one draw on opening day- and actually met in the FA Trophy last season, the Trawler Boys winning two-nil, and it was the Trawler Boys who struck first in this one, Harvey Sayer just after the quarter hour mark. It was two-nil nine minutes before the break, Jake Reed scoring for the seventh time this season- but we soon knew we weren’t going to have a repeat of last seasons scoreline, Sam Johnson quickly adding a third. A red card for Sid Walker turned an uphill battle into a mountain climb for the hosts, and right at the end Johnson got a fourth for the visitors.
