Highlights: Basildon United 4 Stowmarket Town 2

The Bees defeated ten man Stow- but they left it late!

Basildon United made it three wins in a row with victory over bottom side Stowmarket Town at the TLM Environmental Stadium last night- but the visitors will feel hard done by as it looked as if they’d taken something from the match despite playing most of it with ten men.

Stow went down to ten men when Kieran Morley saw red after just twenty three minutes, but our bottom side have shown real fight of late and not only held out but went ahead five minutes after half time, Dylan Kirk making it one-nil. The Bees levelled through Samir Ali a quarter of an hour later, and might have expected to take control, but again it was Stow who went ahead eight minutes from time, Elliott Ballard making it two-one. Could they hold on? Sadly for the travelling faithful they couldn’t.

First, with four minutes left, Jacob Katonia, on from the bench for his debut, made it two-two- but the Bees weren’t finished. A minute from time Saio Blackwood put them ahead for the first time, and then, right at the death, with the visitors pushing for an equaliser, Callum Fitzer charged up the other end to make it four-two and secure the points.

Stow are still looking for that first win, and are eight points from safety, but will feel hard done by. The Bees are up to fourth.
