Highlights: Billericay Town 1 Hornchurch 1

By Ian Townsend

Third v first- and a point apiece

Leaders Hornchurch travelled to third place Billericay Town on ‘Frozen Tuesday,’and increased their advantage at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier table to six points- but they had to settle for a draw after the Blues hit back late on.

The Urchins took the lead after only nine minutes, Ollie Muldoon silencing a large proportion of the one thousand and fifty four hardy souls watching on- although he had help, the visitors believing it to be an own goal whilst the hosts initially gave it to Ade Yusuff. Ollie gets the goal, though, his fourth of the season. Yusuff sadly had to depart on the half hour with a knee injury, his side still ahead.

On thirty eight minutes the Blues had a great chance to equalise, a foul on Alfie Cerulli giving the always reliable Bradley Stevenson a spot kick, but on this occasion he wasn’t reliable, or perhaps visiting keeper Dion-Curtis Henry was just superb, as he saved it.

The equaliser, when it did arrive, came thirteen minutes from time- and it was another spot kick for the Blues. Stevenson, showing courage after his earlier miss. stepped up once more- and this time there was no stopping it. One-one was the final score, and Billericay remain third.
