Bury Town had been superb of late, seven games undefeated and winning six of them- including the previous four- and they took on Bowers and Pitsea, who were in third place and also in fine form, winning seven of their previous eight. Bowers made the breakthrough six minutes before the break, Ben Williamson with the opener, but their lead lasted only three minutes, Max Maughn quickly equalising. Twelve minutes after half time Matt Price made it two-one Bowers, his eighth in eleven matches, but again Town hit back quickly, Cemal Ramadan equalising from the spot. That was that, Bowers remaining third, Town still in eighth.
