Highlights: Horsham 1 Haringey Borough 0

By Ian Townsend

Another Hornets win- another narrow defeat for the struggling visitors

The weather intervened once again to ensure that an extensive programme of Pitching In Isthmian Premier fixtures was reduced to just one on Tuesday night, and Horsham took advantage of their 3G pitch to manoeuvre narrowly past Haringey Borough and climb to eighth, two points away from the top five with two, three or even four games in hand over the sides ahead of them.

Seven hundred and ninety seven hardy- and probably rather damp- souls turned out to watch, and they saw only one goal. It came to the Hornets Lee Harding- his second of the season- and it arrived with twenty six minutes to go. The likelihood was that he didn’t really mean it- it was a cross- but whatever his intentions it evaded everyone, including Borough keeper Dillon Barnes- and crept in, and it delivered three points. That’s seven unbeaten for Horsham, and only one win in ten for Borough, for whom three of the last seven have ended in one-nil defeat, and two in goalless draws- so it doesn’t take a genius to see that they need a find a way to score a few more goals! That result leaves them five points from safety and having played more games than any of their rivals- as many as seven more when compared to Concord Rangers.
