Highlights: Maldon & Tiptree 1 Brentwood Town 3

By Ian Townsend

A fine away win for the Blues

We had another big match as seventh place Brentwood Town travelled to face the side one place and one point above them, Maldon & Tiptree. Both sides had the chance of reaching the top five this weekend, and both were in good form, the Jammers having won four of their previous five, Town with only one defeat in ten. The Jammers were ahead just before the quarter hour mark, George Smith’s fifteenth of the season, but Brentwood, who won both meetings last season, levelled ten minutes later, Mekhi McKenzie with his sixth in ten matches. The Blues went ahead nine minutes into the second half, Jonathan Nzengo making it two-one, and with sixteen minutes left McKenzie struck again, making it three-one. It got worse for the Jammers, Smith getting a red card to go with his earlier goal, and Town held on comfortably to close to within a point of the top five.
