Highlights: Margate v Folkestone Invicta

By Ian Townsend

Two matches, eight goals, and an eventual Margate triumph- here are the highlights from both games

Saturday:

Margate and Folkestone Invicta met at Hartsdown Park in another all-Premier clash. The two sides met as recently as August Bank Holiday Monday, Invicta triumphing two-nil, and the Stripes had won the previous three times the sides have faced each other so will have approached the game with confidence- and it showed, Ibrahim Olutade taking only three minutes to open the scoring. A red card early in the second half for Invicta’s Ryan Khanye boosted the hosts, and most of the six hundred and ninety two watching on, and they drew level with sixteen minutes left, Steve Cawley with the equaliser, his fourth goal of the season. The ten men didn’t lie down, and with only three minutes left Andre Coker restored their lead, but deep into added time Antonis Vasiliou made it two-two and earn a replay.

You can watch the highlights below.

Tuesday:

We had a titanic Kentish Seaside tussle as Folkestone Invicta and Margate met for the third time this season. Invicta won the league encounter between the sides and looked as if they’d done the same on Saturday, only for the Blues to level deep into added time to force this replay- and Margate made sure that they didn't leave anything to chance, making the game safe in little more than one half. Tyrone Sterling gave them the lead on eighteen minutes, within five minutes Ben Greenhalgh had added a second, and just after the start of the second half Steve Cawley made it three, his sixth goal of the season. Ira Jackson got a goal back for the hosts just before the end, but it mattered little. Margate travel to Chesham United in the next round.
