Phoenix Sports welcomed Merstham. Sports started the day only one point above the drop zone and having gone eight matches without a win, whereas the Moatsiders were four unbeaten until their midweek home defeat against Chichester City, a run which had put ten points between them and the drop zone. They defeated Sports three-nil in November, and would have been hoping for a quick reaction to defeat and a win double, and they went ahead just before the half hour, Lee Lewis with the opener from distance- but they held that lead for only nine minutes before Adejola Lahan delivered an equaliser, and the hosts were ahead ten minutes into the second half, Luke Leppard making it two-one- and that was that, Sports opening up a four point gap over second bottom Erith and Belvedere.
