Introducing Whitehawk- The Musical

By Ian Townsend

It's no Lloyd-Webber production, but that's probably a bonus as the Hawks sing about the beautiful game

Watching close ups of international footballers trying to sing their national anthems during the Euros should be proof positive- for anyone who is too young to remember Hoddle and Waddle- that football and music shouldn't mix. But Whitehawk fans Ollie Learmonth and Dick Langford, otherwise known as The Whitehawk Isolators, have decided to become the exception to that rule, as they've followed a couple of earlier singles with a full-blown musical- which they've written alongside fellow fans Eve Plumridge and Simon ‘Odds N’ Evens.'

Well we say full blown, but it's only twenty four minutes long- about enough time to eat a four pound ice cream at one of Lord Lloyd Webber's offerings. They explain to the Whitehawk website:

"Our intention was to create something entertaining and a little out of the ordinary for the fans, not just at Whitehawk but all supporters that have been starved of any football action over the last year or so. We hope that this Musical spreads the Club’s message of inclusion to other people who may not ordinarily know what supporting Whitehawk Football Club is all about”.

How did they do? Well you can listen here- and read more about their story here.
